Construction has been an aspect of life since the beginning of human existence. The first buildings were huts and shelters constructed by hand or with simple tools. The construction of Pyramids in Egypt (2700-2500 BC) might be considered the first instance of large structure construction. Ever since civilizations first started to build, we've sought a material that would bind stones into a solid, formed mass. The Assyrians and Babylonians used clay for this purpose, and the Egyptians advanced to the discovery of lime and gypsum mortar as a binding agent for building such structures as the Pyramids.    
                    

The Greeks made further improvements and finally the Romans developed a cement that produced structures of remarkable durability. In the middle of 19th century, after commercial production of ordinary Portland cement, the construction industry witnessed huge changes and got widespread acceptance as a prime building material. Initially, it was used as a mortar for joining building blocks. However, after invention of reinforced concrete, the construction industry got a new dimension and impetus to cater to the growing need of infrastructure and housing.
